Some more Information
If you are here looking for a family outing, place to enjoy with Kids, or planning for someone who is looking for some good place in Bangalore for the first time, then this is not the article you are looking for. This place is for people who are looking for a place that is less famous, and also are ready to take chances. There is no guarantee of getting a chance to visit the lake on any day. Only if you are lucky, you will get that chance. Reason is it is one of lakes which is source of water for over 50 elephants. If elephants are around the lake or even on their way towards the lake, then you do not get a chance to visit. Forest officials close all the path towards the lake and also it is highly risky to visit in that case. There is a temple near the lake and one can take the vehicle till temple. Around 300-400 meters from temple, the lake starts and is surrounded by forest. Elephants visit the lake and one can not predict which part of the lake will be chosen by them. Hence, it is important to be safe from your side and it is always good to give animals their space when they need it.
The lake falls under Bannerghatta forest range. Even if you do not visit the lake, the road from Bangalore to the village itself gives a good ride.
This place is only for people looking for a silent and serene place. I just hope that this place remains the same forever. Can find variety of birds, butterflies and other insects around the lake.
My Experience and Opinion
I had covered most of the places around Bangalore by then and was looking for some place which is silent and less known. Just then I heard this name Tatte Kere and it sounded pretty interesting, but googling did not help much and that is all I wanted. Just packed my camera and headed towards the place. It was a solo ride to the village and I checked with villagers about the lake. Villagers guided me towards the temple where I parked my bike and headed towards the lake. I was surprised to see nobody around and all I could see was serene atmosphere, a tree near the lake and a rock beneath that. The place seemed to be just matching my requirement for that day and I took a break from rest of the world that day. I walked around and to my surprise, such a secluded place was also not free from being treated as trash! Saw beer bottles, plastic covers all around and felt bad for what we have done to only few places which animals are dependant on!
There is no scope for trek or forest visit here. It is a reserved forest and hence any actions here by public can be treated seriously. Do take care if you wish to visit.
