Some more Information
Zip line trip is a must in Mehrangarh fort and it is better to book over phone or online since chances are high that you may not get a slot on your day of visit. Jodhpur has some good food joints to try authentic Rajasthani food too. So, try giving it a try. It is different fun to have Rajasthani food in Rajasthan and Punjabi in Punjab.
My Experience and Opinion
Jodhpur is one of the places where I made a couple of friends who remained friends for just a couple of hours in my life! I am sure I would never see the same person again in life. Someone was from Mumbai, some from Himachal, Delhi and even a couple from Britain! All these happened in the Jodhpur Fort area when we all were in same batch for Zip line trip. Since I was travelling alone, I had enough time to mingle with others and even others were little surprised to see someone travelling alone all the way from Bangalore to Rajasthan. My stay in Jodhpur was considerably not a good one since the hotel I had booked online was not that good. (Off course I had booked a cheaper one but considering 'cheap rooms' in other places of Rajasthan, this was pretty much in 'bad' condition). As in any place in India, bargaining works here too and if you are hiring an auto, do bargain. When they find tourists, they do charge a lot and then reduce if you are smart enough. So, it is upto your skills to save some money in your pocket.
A List of Must visits and must do activities in Jodhpur is here. Do not miss any from below. There are more 'chota mota' places in jodhpur which you may choose to visit if you have time.
Mehrangarh Fort
One of the celebrity forts in entire country. When you visit Jodhupur, you will no matter what, visit this fort. The fort area is very vast and take good amount of time to cover entire fort. If you are architecture enthusiast, then keep at least a day aside to visit the fort. The museum, the paintings, the cannons, armory and all the historical ones sing loud about the culture and history of Rajasthan. It is very hard for one to cover entire fort area since there are different views for the fort. The backside view is mostly not available unless you try Zip line trip
Zip Line Trip
I had heard about Zip line trip in Jodhpur from a fellow lone traveller whom I met in Jaisalmer. He had covered Jodhpur already and said zip line trip is a must in Jodhpur. So, I made it a point in my mind to do this. The zipline trip here gives you a different perspective of the fort since you can go behind the fort which is not possible to be reached by walk. Also, it is a different experience to have a deep valley beneath you are you cruise through the air attaching yourselves to just a rope and you find a majestic fort infront of you! The zipline trip here is around 1.8kms in length and takes more than an hour to complete. The charges is around 1800 as of 2014-15. They send you in batches and a batch consists of around 20 people. Just one statement - "DO NOT miss zip line trip experience here"
Umaid Bhavan
Umaid Bhava is one of the richest palaces in entire country and the family of king still lives here. One portion of the palace is leased to Taj Group of restaurant and houses some of the costliest stay options in Jodhpur. Only a small portion which is not used by the king's family and Taj group is made available for public visits and it includes majorly a museum. Also, vintage car exhibition is available here with a couple of vintage Rolly Royce cars and other ones.
Jaswanth Thada
Jaswanth Thada - I would call it one of the most royal burrial ground I have seen. The mausoleum is built with white marbal and gives that royal feel. If you are visiting Jodhpur for just one day, this can be included while you exclude the parks and other places listed in "tourist spots of Jodhpur" card that you get from the hotel you stay or from the auto drivers.
Clock Tower
Clock tower looks beautiful in the evening and mainly the view from the top of clock tower is excellent. With golden lights on fort, the fort area looks majestic from clock tower. The only problem of tower is that it is amidst of market and it is hard to appreciate it with all dirt around. Visiting clock tower during day time would be not a worth one I would say.
